Premier League relegation odds: Leicester City down at weekend

Leicester City look set to be relegated this weekend and join Southampton in returning to the Championship

Premier League relegation odds
Leicester could be relegated before they play Liverpool on Saturday

Leicester City seem a certainty to be relegated from the Premier League this weekend and make a swift return to the Championship after their promotion last April.

The Foxes are priced at 1/500 by bookmakers to go down as they prepare for a home match against Liverpool on Sunday, where a defeat would mean they drop down from the top flight.

Ipswich Town also look likely to join Leicester and the already relegated Southampton before long. The East Anglian club are rated at 1/66 to return to the second tier of English football.

Premier League relegation 2024-25 – the market leaders

Leicester City (19th)

The Foxes will definitely be relegated if they lose to Liverpool on Sunday, but there is also the chance that they will have already gone down before they face Arne Slot’s title-chasing team.

Leicester are 17 points behind the 17th-placed West Ham United, with a maximum of 18 points available. So if the east Londoners win their home match against the already relegated Southampton on Saturday, the Foxes will be down without kicking a ball.

Ipswich Town (18th)

The Tractor Boys are not going down without a fight, as their 2-2 draw at Chelsea in their last outing demonstrated. Yet with 14 points separating them from the Hammers, they too could be relegated this weekend.

Should the gap between Ipswich and the safety zone grow to 16 points or more in Gameweek 33, Kieran McKenna’s team will be relegated. They host second-placed Arsenal on Sunday.

Premier League relegation 2024-25 – the long shots

It says much for the plight that Leicester and Ipswich find themselves in that their best chance of survival, according to the bookies, is for Manchester City to be relegated at 33/1.

Though the Light Blues are fifth in the Premier League table, they have Financial Fair Play charges hanging over them that could potentially result in docked points or automatic relegation.

The team that are rated as the next most likely to be relegated are Wolves at 80/1. With a 14-point lead over Ipswich and a home game to come against Leicester on April 26, it is unlikely that the West Midlanders’ fans will be losing much sleep over that threat.

West Ham are closer to the danger zone than Wolves, but are out at 100/1 to go down. This is because they face Southampton at home in their next game, where a win could secure their safety.
